Jalaludin Rumi was a mystical Muslim, a Sufi, who lived in 13th century Persia. Born in what’s now Tajikistan, he lived most of his life in current day Turkey. His poems became popular in the West through the translations by Coleman Banks.

Coleman Banks is an American poet who neither reads nor speaks Persian. He uses existing English translations of Rumi – and turns them into beautiful poetry.
