I love these two wildlife wall calendars. Both feature pictures of baby animals like the polar bear, red fox, North American bison, gray wolf, moose, cougar and black bear. The one is a high quality mini wall calendar you can buy for 6.99. The photographs were made by Bela Baliko, a wildlife photographer from Canada.

John James Audubon (1785 – 1851) was an American naturalist, ornithologist, and artist. He is widely known for his beautiful paintings of North American bird species. Most beautiful bird calendar 2010

Introducing what I think is the most beautiful birds calendar of 2010: the Birds of North America 2010 Wall Calendar with art by J.Fenwich Lansdowne $13.99

Recently deceased Canadian artist J. Fenwick Lansdowne (1937 – 2008) began painting birds at the age of 12. Though his childhood was marked by illness, his work would draw him to exotic landscapes. Lansdowne, like John James Audubon, kept his focus on North American nature.

The dozen species presented here are creatures of woodland, river, meadow, and slough: barn owl, Steller’s jay, black-crowned night heron, and more. Mostly songbirds, these images are just plain beautiful. Aside from the picture to the right, with it’s wonderful colors, the painting of ducks flying up at the approach of strangers is so true to life it’s staggering.

The birds really come alive in these watercolor paintings. It’s hard to believe Lansdowne was self taught. Not only do these pictures capture the finest details of the bird species, but the colors and composition are artistically chosen. All the while these paintings look drawn from life, almost photographs. As though the artist was merely lucky to get them shot so beautifully.
