gaudi-art-plannerAntoni Gaudi Softcover Engagement Planner

Raised during the Industrial Revolution, Spanish architect Antoni Gaudi (1852 – 1926) strove to distinguish and reaffirm the identity of his native Catalonia as Spain and the rest of Europe modernized. Early neo-Gothic designs were the stepping-stone to the mature, original style that became synonymous with his name. Incorporating bold colors and odd bits of material into his designs, Gaudi created inspiring, visionary buildings and helped establish Barcelona as a city of the world.

This weekly agenda book features a weekly example of Antoni Gaudi’s spectacular architecture. With year planners and all national holidays, the spiral binding makes it easy to lay flat. His surreal wimsy is a bit like that other Catalan artist: Salvador Dali. I quite admire Gaudi’s ability to translate surrealism into architecture.

klimt-engagement-plannerKlimt Softcover Agenda Book

Gustav Klimt’s art is thoroughly fin de siècle. It expresses the apocalyptic atmosphere of Vienna’s upper middle-class society at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century. This was a society  devoted to the cultivation of aesthetic awareness and the cult of pleasure. In hindsight they were the last of the aristocracy: people who could (and were supposed to) afford their time to nothing but pleasure. In contrast: our current elites are people who are always busy.

Keep track of your important dates and events while enjoying the gold highlighted paintings, which make this presentation of Klimt’s work a beautiful addition to sophisticated and stylish writing desks everywhere.

Henri Matisse Cut-Outs Small Engagement Calendarhenri-matisse-cut-outs-planner

The reputation of Henri Matisse as the most important artist of the modern era is rivaled only by Picasso. Towards the end of his monumental career as a painter, sculptor, and lithographer, an elderly, sickly Matisse developed the technique of creating brightly colored paper cut-outs. These gouaches decoupes represented a revolution in modern art, yet their simplicity was dismissed by many critics as the folly of a senile old man.

Later critics realized that Matisse had found a brilliant solution to the age-old conflict between line and color. This linen-covered engagement calendar features a ribbon bookmark and an Address and Notes section. His work is reminiscent of pop art, and Charley Harper, though the historical influence is the other way around of course.
