Honestly: there aren’t too many planners out there that scream fun. I’ve found some for men as well as women. From cute fun shoes cartoons to Dilbert, Snoopy and The New Yorker comics. Shown above is the funny B Word 2012 Softcover Planner .

First up the ones that start summer 2011 and last 17 or 18 months, which is a nice bonus I think.

Fun bitchy planner 2011-2012

The B Word 2012 Softcover Planner

The B Word weekly engagement planner is bold and sassy (and just a little bit bitchy)! Beware: spending a year with these retro women and their attitude may rub off on you. But as long as you appreciate their sense of humor you will be fine!

Oh, and like all good planners it starts in September 2011 and gives you planning space till December 2012.

Primary school planner 2011-2012

In most schools kids won’t be using an organizer till the 5th or 6th grade. But when it’s time for them to learn academic skills like planning and using a calendar to keep track of homework, it’s best for them to have a sturdy planner that has room for all that needs to be written down.

This student planner comes in primary colors, is dated and has a sturdy cover that will last the year in the hands of most children (can’t vouch for all of them). It’s a good buy for the parent who takes academic skills seriously. Still, I would only recommend buying one if the teachers have a system which will train the students to use them.

Cute red or purple student planner 2011-2012

Aside from a practical academic planner, to help you organize your studies, your appointments and especially your dating life for ’11 and ’12 – you should also make sure your organizer fits your style.

This year I found 3 red academic planners: two were by Moleskine. There’s the Large (8.3 x 5.2 x 0.7 inches) and the ordinary sized red moleskine planner (5.7 x 3.6 x 0.2 inches). Both cover 18 months, starting July 2011, so they’ll help you stay organized throughout the academic year of 2011-2012 and well into the one after that. And if you want to switch over to the calendar year, next year, you can.

Both also include an expandable inner pocket which contains a 24-page tabbed inset book with 6 tabs and 35 adhesive labels as well as 225 colored adhesive labels to mark important dates and deadlines. The whole week is printed over 2 pages with a horizontal layout.

The third planner perhaps falls into the category of ‘cute’ best. Shown above as well as to the side, I think you’ll agree Andrews McMeel Publishing did a beautiful job. If you’re a girly girl, go with a floral pattern for instance. If you like reds, pinks and purples in your clothes, why not have a planner to match? There is really no reason your engagement planner shouldn’t be cute as well as practical. I found you two that fit the bill precisely. One is described as based on animal patterns, but it looks like plant life to me. The other is described as ‘floral’, that means flowers as you’ve probably guessed.

Looking for a 2011-2012 academic planner? When shopping for an academic planner, do take a look at the following:

Does it have a decent cover? It should either be hardcover or softcover with a plastic cover protecting the planner.
Is it dated? Don’t settle for an undated student planner. You don’t want to have to date every page in the year when you could be meeting your friends or making new ones.
Is there room for notes, addresses, to do lists? If you don’t have that in your planner, you will have to find some other way to keep those together. I strongly recommend buying one that DOES have room for all that.

But yes, of course, you do want your organizer to look good. What use is an agenda book you’d be ashamed to use in front of your friends? Which is why I have a selection of blue (and blue-green) planners for you to choose from.
